That you can take your kids too as well. I'm in Oreoguy's position plus, I'm over an hour away. Taichung has a great organization for parents and friends of parents.

Every month they schedule an outing in a park. i went to thier special Halloween Party. They did a real professional job and it looked like a very friendly community.

Not saying that you guys must have kids, but it would be great to have a place to meet other expats in a non bar scene and have a place the kids could meet and play too.

@oregonguyintaiwan - If you and your wife are up for it, my husband and I are always interested in meeting other couples for coffee and a chat, game of pool or whatnot. We're not into the bar scene ourselves, so it'd be nice to make some friends outside that once we arrive in Kaohsiung.

@arlene - I am also looking for some gal pals to hangout with. If you or anyone you know is up for cheesy romantic comedies/quality mall time drop me a line :)

I have 2 children myself, so I think a family meetup would be nice. Of course, I don't think that should mean that we should exclude expats who are single.

As for what a meetup consists of, I have no idea..... I've never had one. Perhaps some other posters on here would have some ideas or suggestions.

As for the meet itself .... I think a Picnic would be best (due to health/religious/diet requirements).

A park near some shade & somewhere the children can play... toilets close by.

Bring your own food, chill, get to meet others and have a great day/afternoon etc.?

Anyone else got any suggestions?

I'm liking this idea more and more. You can me and my bunch in. Central Park is convenient and easily accessible. I do believe children's week is the first week of April. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

I think Children's Day is Wednesday 4th April and they will all be off school .... that's children not the parents :(

As that is the case ,,,, what day would be best? next Sat 31st March or Sunday 1st April? or the weekend after Saturday 8th April / Sunday 9th April ?

@Spikey ~ Perhaps you could make an announcement or start a new discussion announcing our KL meetup that could remain at the top of the forum page. Kind of like what you did with the discussion concerning KL being on Facebook and Twitter. That way, others browsing our forums could see it and know that we're having a meetup. It's very possible that some foreigners without families here would enjoy going :) Others might be interested in going.

Also, do you know how I can get rid of the gray box at the bottom left of my screen that keeps telling me to confirm and resend my email? I've sent it twice.
