Opportunity for English Teachers ( without an expat appearance)

    Not being racist , but just giving all the ABC and CBA teachers out there more opportunities to teach . We , including myself, being an ABC teacher here in Taiwan have been treated pretty badly the past few years. Just because we have an Asian look, we can't teach as well as any other expats out there? It is time that teachers are treated equally by their abilities and experiences, not by their skin color. If you are an ABC OR CBC... let's hook up and see what we could do to help each other.

    Try explain to the parents of little Winkie, that a person of Asian decent can speak Engish as well as, or better than a "white" teacher.

    They will recoil in horror and immediately remove him from the school.

    Racism against your own race, is mind boggling.

    That's the problem. It will be snowing here in July before any school would actually stick up for the teacher in question.

    Most schools are run by idiots, who would not know a decent teacher is he/she smacked them in the face, and cannot think more long term than tomorrow.
    The parents are even stupider.

    @Michael Thanks for the support. As for me, I am looking for ABC or CBC teachers who want more hours in the morning. Let me know if you have any friends in this category .

    The preferred way of expressing this idea is "more stupid" as opposed to "stupider". Just FYI.

    @elysianfields
    I believe Michael knows that, just wanted to show how stupid some people could be.

    @elysianfields - This forum is an informal, casual space for expats - not a job interview for an English teacher. Take it easy guys and RELAX - sheeeeeeeesh. Micheal may not be a native speaker.

    Thanks for stating the fact that this is a casual space to elysianfields.

    Unfortunately, no Nelson yet. Have sent out 36 000 flyers, but will keep looking. Thanks for asking.

    elysianfields, I humbly apologize/apologise (Not sure if you prefer the American version or the British?) for my incorrect use of English. Thanks for correcting me. Can you find my dog as well?

    @bigdaddy. We spoke on the phone before.  When I first moved here in Kaohsiung, I had experienced lots of racism.  I'll show up to interviews and they'll be shocked that I have an Asian face.  After that experience, I insist on the employer to look at my picture before we speak any further or go to any interviews.  I just never thought that I'll face this kind of discrimination after fighting for so many years against discrimination back in the USA.  I'm very lucky and fortunate to work for my current buxiban.. I'm pretty happy there so far.

    I'm not trying to advertise here, but my school and I will host our FIRST annual summer basketball camp starting July 2.  The name of my school is SHAKESPEARE ENGLISH.  I think this maybe the only All English basketball camp in Kaohsiung.  I'm a former basketball coach back in the USA.  I'm looking forward to this camp!  Any questions... let me know.  The more students who sign up, the more hours I can pick up.  Currently, I do not have enough hours in the summer!
